Objective:To detect the expression of EGFR,Her-2 and c-Fos in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC),analyze the impact on the prognosis of ESCC when they positiveiy expressed, and provide predictors for the prognosis in ESCC. Methods:Two-step immunehistochemical method(Beijing Zhongshan Golden Bridge Biotechnology Co, Ltd) was applicated to detect the expression of EGFR, Her-2 and c-Fos in fiber esophagoscopy specimens of 59 cases with ESCC. Applicating Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and log-rank test to analyze the impact on the progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS). P <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: 1. The median follow-up time was 18 months(2-133 months). Among the 59 cases of ESCC patients, the rate of 2-year OS was 44.1%, and 2-year PFS was 71.8%. A total of 14 cases had been with tumor metastatic or recurrent. 2. The positive expression of EGFR was 44.1%(26/59), and the overexpression rate was 18.6%(11/59); The positive expression of Her-2 was 76.3%(45/59), and the overexpression rate was 39.0%(23/59); c-Fos expression rate was 84.7%(50/59), which is overexpressed in 50.8%(30/59),respectively. 3. Whether EGFR expressed or not could be associated with OS(P = 0.028),but not with PFS(P = 0.162),obviously. The expression of Her-2 and c-Fos turned out to be not affected on both OS and PFS significantly. In addition, compared different degree of theirs expression with OS and PFS,it had no significant association(P>0.05). 4. When the expression of EGFR combined with c-Fos were positive,it affected the OS in ESCC obvously(P = 0.027). And it also had a significant influence on PFS when both of them overexpressed(P = 0.010). However,no matter whether EGFR combined with Her-2 expressed or overexpressed, the influence on OS and PFS was not stasistically significant. Her-2 combined with c-Fos, EGFR combined with Her-2 and c-Fos turned out the same results. Conclusion: It can be inferred that, the expression of EGFR, Her-2, c-Fos were present in ESCC. EGFR could be a predictor for the prognosis in ESCC independently. There were not enough evidence for Her-2 or c-Fos to be a predictor. In addition,EGFR combined with c-Fos expression might be a new predictor, but it needed further research.
