Objective:In this study, we try to analysis the relationship between vertebral artery dominance(VAD) and area of posterior circulation cerebral infarction(PCCI), Preliminary understanding VAD exert an influence on PCCI area. Meanwhile, pay much a attention to VAD inclinical. A new train of thought can be provided for secondary prevention in patients. Otherwise, the recurrence can be reduced. Methods:Full of 120 cases of patients with acute posterior circulation infarction were screened from cardiovascular disease hospital in Shanxi Province from January 2013 to July2014.Record the general data(such as age, sex, hypertension, diabetes, history of previous stroke, blood lipid levels, smoking and drinking history, etc) and inspection result of imaging. According to computerized tomography angiography(CTA) and the diagnostic criteria of VAD, the research object was divided into vertebral artery dominance and vertebral arterynon-dominance group. And basilar artery(BA)morphology in two groups were counted respectively. According to high density shadow Scanned in diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) sequence, the infarction area in each group were noted and the infarction occurrence rate were calculated. The relationship between the infarction parts of patients and lateral vertebral artery were recorded. Chi-square test were used to compare two groups of the infarction incidence and the incidence of BA bending. The relationship between the infarction area and dominant side were analysed and statically. The influence of VAD can be further understood in PCCI area.Results:1. A total of 120 patients with acute posterior circulation infarction was divided into the dominance group(74 cases) and non-dominance group(46 cases). The baseline date of the two groups, haven’t significant difference statistically(P>0.05).Infarction rate of the dominance is higher than non-dominance in the medulla2. oblongata parts, pons, lower cerebellar hemisphere, and differences have statistical significance(P<0.05). Infarction rate in upper cerebellar hemisphere, thalamus, the medial temporal lobe and occipital lobe haven’t statistical significance in two groups.3. The number of basilar artery bend in dominance group is 42(56.8%), nondominance group 13(28.3%). Dominance is sianificantly higher than non-dominance and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:VAD is liable to cause infarction in the medulla oblongata parts, pons, lower cerebellar hemisphere. VAD lead to the occurrence of the basilar artery curvature easily. VAD is more likely to lead to basal artery to the advantages of lateral bending.
