Objective:To study interleukin-33(IL-33) and its receptor ST2 in allergic rhinitis(AR) nasal mucosa of human, and explore the role of IL-33 and ST2 in the pathogenesis of AR.Methods:Collected 24 cases of Allergic rhinitis with nasal septum deviation patients as AR group, and select 20 patients with simple septum deviation as normal control group,The expression of IL-33 and ST2 protein in Nasal mucosa of the two groups by immunohistochemistry SP method, and to detect the expression of IL-33 and ST2 m RN A between in AR and the normal control group by Q uantitative Real-time PCR(QPCR).In addition, collected 20 cases diagnosed with AR, who accepted specific immunotherapy(SIT). Enzyme- linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was measured expression of IL-33 protein in serum of AR before SIT and after half a year.Result:Immunohistochemical results found the positive expression rate of IL-33 and ST2 in AR patients is higher than normal control group, which was statistically significant(P <0.05);QPCR detected the expression of IL-33 and ST2 m RN A were increased in AR group compared with the control group, While, the IL-33 levels in serum of AR were decreased after SIT half a year(47.35 ± 10.59) ng/l than before treatment(72.37 ± 16.18) ng/l,and the difference was statistically significant(t = 6.413, P <0.05).Conclusion:IL-33 and its receptor ST2 in the nasal mucosa of patients with high expression of AR, suggesting that IL-33 / ST2 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis. Serum levels of IL-33 significantly decreased after SIT treatment, suggesting that IL-33 may have positive correlation with the severity of AR.
