Objective To discuss the effects of fluor-hydroxyapatite(FHA) coating titanium alloy and titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implants on osseointegration and peri-implantitis.Methods FHA-coating titanium alloy and titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implants were planted into buccal alveolar bone in mandibular premolar area of New Zealand white rabbits. Scanning electron microscope was used to observe the osseointegration status around the microimplants. Enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA) was employed to detect the variation of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).Results After the operation, new woven bone gradually increased around the FHAcoating titanium alloy and titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implants,and the lamellar bone and Harvard tube structure finally formed. Compared with the titanium alloy orthodontic microimplant, the FHA-coating titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implant led to higher bone density, smaller marrow cavity, and shorter high-level TNF-α lasting period. The differences were of significant importance(P < 0.05).Conclusions the FHA-coating titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implant resulted in better histocompatibility, and the inhibition of peri-implantitis. Generally, the FHA-coating titanium alloy orthodontic micro-implant can be used as the anchorage of future novel orthodontic micro-implants.
