Objective To investigate and research the curative effect of supracondylar osteotomy of femur combined with arthroscopy of the knee for the treatment of the valgus deformity of knees. Methods Choicing 32 patients(35 knees) with valgus deformity of knees were treated with supracondylar osteotomy of femur combined with arthroscopy of knee from September 2008 to May 2012.The average age was 35 years consisted of 7 male(8 knees) and 25 female(27 knees). All the people in the study group were test by HSS knee score system pre-operative,and the result of the test score was an average of 60.46.The routine examination include knee joint AP & LAT and full-length AP view of the lower extremity X-ray before and after operation and the set of the methods of the X-ray examination was the same. All the people’s the femoral angle and femoral-tibial angle were measured according to the X-ray view after the examination in this study group. After the operation the internal fixation was taken out in an average of 12 months and the study group was followed-up in 24 months. All the condition of the patients was recorded in the 24 months.Result We followed all the people in this study group in an average of 24 months. The follow-up time was an average of 24 months. The result showed that all the deformity was effectively correct,All the bone was very well connected and all the knee joint function was obviously improved. The affected side knee’s HSS score was an average of 85.4 after the operation. Conclusion The supracondylar dome osteotomy of femur combined with arthroscopy is a safe, scientific and effective strategy in the treatment of the valgus deformity of knees.
