[Objective] To find out the BMD on the prediction of osteoporotic fracture and FRAX with or without BMD, and which way will be better to predict osteoporotic fracture.[Methods] We make telephone interview of 1000 patients living in Kunming (more than 10 years)、between the ages of 40-90 years old, who did physical examination in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming medical university during the year 2012, and took DXA testing for neck of femur, greater trochanter, total hip or Ll,L2,L3,L4,Ll-4 bone mineral density of the female population. The effective return visit number is 869 patients, with 131 lost patients. These 869 patients have been classified into three groups as bone mass normal, bone mass loss and osteoporosis. In bone mass loss, the measured femoral neck BMD is called F group, the measured lumbar vertebra is called NF group. The correlation of F group and NF group has been analyzed and compared.[Results] In the total 218 cases, the ratio of patients with fracture of the femoral neck BMD, great trochanter BMD, total hip BMD is lower than patients with fracture (P< 0.05), which is statistically significant. The probabilities FRAX calculated with BMD hip fracture probability and main loose bone fracture probability are respectively (2.981+/-3.360) and (7.169+/-4.684), higher than that of calculated without using BMD fracture probability (P<0.001). The high risk of fracture probability for FRAX in BMD group of 218 cases of women (13.9) is higher than that of BMI group as 215 cases of women(0%), with a chi-square value as 0.244, and P<0.05. there has been no correlation between daily insolation, movement time and primary osteoporosis fracture probability (P>0.05); and there has been a negative correlation between hip fracture probability(P<0.001), and also a negative correlation between vitamin D taken and FRAX calculating primary osteoporosis fracture probability and 10 years hip fracture probability (P<0.001).[Conclusion] BMD and FRAX can both predict the fracture risk. FRAX with BMD can better predict fracture than without BMD.
