Objective To investigate the level of diet knowledge, attitude, behavior and needs in the patients with ulcerative colitis(UC); To seek an effective diet management method about UC; Develop of Chinese medicine medicinal food which Suitable for UC; Discusses the effect of the auxiliary treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC), when combined Chinese medicine medicinal food and diet management.Methods Investigating the level of diet knowledge, attitude, behavior and needs in the patients with UC through the questionnaire which made by the researchers; Mading a system review and meta-analysis what about the theme of "UC diet management" based on the Evidence-based theory, summarize the existing evidence which about the UC diet intervention. Based on TCM literatures, develop medicinal food of UC by TCM clinical experts and nutrition experts.A clinical randomized controlled trial is designed, experimental group is adopted by "diet management + traditional Chinese medicinal food + drug therapy ", control group is adopted by "diet management + drug therapy". Intervention time continuous for six months. Result(1)A total of 78 UC patients were investigated, founding that patients with low degree of dietary knowledge, but better attitude and better behavior, patients with a strong need of diet healthy education and traditional Chinese medicine food.(2) Existing evidence of UC dietary interventions was integrated through the system evaluation and meta-analysis. The ruault found that a self management approach on the basis of the principle of food intolerance is more scientific and feasible, which laid a foundation for this study.(3) There are 5 kinds of medicinal food porridge were developed, based on the theory of "Medicine food homology" and "shin syndrome meal" in traditional Chinese medicine. These medicinal food porridge become one of the important measures for UC diet intervention.(4) Through clinical randomized controlled trials, the results showed that the effect of food diet management combined Chinese medicine medicinal for improving the clinical symptoms, disease activity, maintain alleviate disease and survival quality of patients with UC is remarkable, especially in improving systemic symptom is better than that in control group (P< 0.05), but the effect remains to be further verified in terms of nutritional status. Conclusions The diet management of eliminating diet based on food intolerance has certain evidence-based basis, and Chinese medicinal food is convenient to learn and non-toxic side effects, suitable for long-term use.
