[Objective]To investigate the effect of two kinds of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) nursing interventions on relieving pain caused by PICC catheter under ultrasound-guidance. Thus to seek safe, tolerable, effective and economical auxiliary treatment methods for pain patients by TCM nursing interventions.[Methods]90 cases of patients with PICC catheter were divided into control group (30 cases), auricular acupressure group (30 cases) and acupoint massage group (30 cases) by referring to a table of random numbers according to the placing chronological order of catheter. The patients in control group were received local anesthetic lidocaine according to the conventional. The patients were treated with auricular acupressure intervention in auricular acupressure group. The patients were treated with acupoint massage intervention in acupoint massage group. The degree of pain, anxiety and blood pressure(BP) and heart rate(BP) of PICC catheter of three groups was compared.[Results]The degree of pain of PICC catheter in auricular acupressure group are 3.70±0.878(local anesthesia),2.93±1.081 (Venipuncture),0.87±0.973 (Pull the needle)、1.70±1.149 (The blade comprises a skin) 、2.60±1.276 (Send cannula sheath) andl.07±0.980 (withdraw the cannula sheath), it was significant lower than that in control group. And acupoint massage group are 3.07±1.081(local anesthesia),2.70±0.837 (Venipuncture),0.63±0.669 (Pull the needle),1.77±0.971 (The blade comprises a skin)、 2.37±1.189 (Send cannula sheath) and 0.73±0.740 (withdraw the cannula sheath), it was significant lower than that in control group too.The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Before PICC catheter, the score of the control group was 35.60±7.62,the auricular acupressure group was 35.13±3.11,the acupoint massage group was 34.70±4.23,after PICC catheter, the score of the control group was 31.77±4.84,the auricular acupressure group was 26.90±2.41,the acupoint massage group was26.80±2.367.The observation group patients’ anxiety, BP and HR were significantly lower than control group(P<0.05); The degree of pain of PICC catheter in observation group was significant lower than that in control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).[Conclusions]Auricular acupressure intervention and acupoint massage intervention can relieve pain caused by PICC catheter and improve patient comfort during the process of placing PICC catheter. They also can effectively alleviate anxiety and stabilize BP and HR in patients with PICC and relieve pain caused by PICC catheter.
