Objective To investigate the relationship of the vertebral artery dysplasia and clinical symptoms, study on the vertebral artery hypoplasia preliminary MRA typing and its clinical significance. Methods Patients were collected between outpatient and inpatient neurological department of internal medicine in Nanyang center hospital from 2011 May to 2014 March,862 patients which the row head or neck MRA examination and the brainmagnetic resonance scans at the same time were selected. According to the standard of diagnosis of vertebral artery hypoplasia, divided into the vertebral artery hypoplasia group 80 cases (observation group), and no vertebral artery hypoplasia group 782 cases (control group), the comparison between two groups in posterior circulation TIA and infarction.Statistical analysis of relationship between vertebral artery hypoplasia and posterior circulation TIA or posterior circulation infarction. Through the clinical data and MRA features of 80 cases of patients with vertebral artery hypoplasia, carries on the classification, correlation analysis of different types and the posterior circulation TIA and cerebral infarction. Results In 862 cases, vertebral artery hypoplasia in 80 cases,54 cases on the right, the left 26 cases; 51 cases of posterior circulation TIA, the incidence was 63.75%,posterior circulation cerebral infarction in 23 cases, the incidence was 28.75%,among which 6 cases were diagnosed as anterior circulation ischemia; the remaining 782 patients,626 cases showed anterior circulation ischemia, findings of 156 patients with posterior circulation ischemia, the incidence was 19.95%, among wich, the posterior circulation TIA in 97 cases, the incidence of 12.40%; posterior circulation infarction 59 cases, the incidence of 7.54%; Comparison of the two groups, P= 0.000, a statistically significant difference. According to MRA features, the vertebral artery hypoplasia were divided into Ⅳ:Type Ⅰ, Type Ⅱ, TypeⅢ and Type Ⅳ; Type I had 11 cases, the number of posterior circulation TIA was 9, the incidence of 81.82%,one case of cerebral infarction, the incidence of 9.09%; Type II had 28 cases, the number of posterior circulation TIA was 21, the incidence of 75.00%, five cases of cerebral infarction, the incidence of 17.86%; Type Ⅲ had 24 cases, the number of posterior circulation TIA was 15, the incidence of 62.50%, seven cases of cerebral infarction, the incidence of 29.17%; Type Ⅳ had 17 cases, the number of posterior circulation TIA was 6, the incidence of 35.29%, ten cases of cerebral infarction, the incidence of 58.82%.Conclusion (1).The vertebral artery dysplasia has obvious correlation between posterior circulation TIA and posterior circulation infarction, and is ischemic stroke’s risk factor. (2). According to MRA imaging, vertebral artery hypoplasia can be divided into type Ⅳ; higher vertebral artery hypoplasia type, the greater the probability of the occurrence of cerebral infarction.
