| Objective:1. To assess the status of knowledge, attitude and practice of metabolic syndrome(MS) patients who underwent the checkups in a major hospital.2. To analyze the differences on the total energy, the three main nutrient contents(protein, fat and carbohydrate)and the glycemic load between the MS patients and control group based upon the dietary nutrition survey.Methods:1. The pre-survery of the self-designed KAP questionnaire was carried out in20persons to evaluate the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.2. This is a case-control study. The MS patients, totally177(including84males and93females), who met the diagnostic criteria of the International Diabetes Foundation, were randomly selected from the health promotion center in a major hospital. At the same time,221healthy volunters(including108males and113females) were enrolled in the control group. The differences in the knowledge, attitude and practice were compared between these two groups according to the KAP questionnaire. 3. The survey of dietary nutrition was conducted to compare the difference of energy, the three major nutrients and glycemic load individually between the two groups by using the method of3days-24hours dietary nutrition survey.4. The statistical data was input into the Excel and was counted and analyzed by SPSS19.0software. Measurement data was espressed in χ±s, enumeration data was expressed in percentage of cases or count data, and measurement of test-retest reliability coefficient and validity analysis used the Pearson correlation analysis. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used to test the internal conistency, the structure validity was tested by the factor analysis method, and T-test and χ2test were used to carry out the significance analysis, with P<0.05showing differences, which had statistical significance.Results:1. The self-designed KAP questionnaire has good reliability and validity. The modified total scale of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient is0.821, the KAP of each Cronbach’s alpha coefficients are0.745,0.821,0.924, showing that the reliability can be accepted. The test-retest reliability is0.391-0.988, showing that the test-retest reliability is ordinary. The dimensions of the structure validity were gained by the Factor analysis method.2. The knowledge, attitude and practice scores in experimental group are11.82±4.89,13.10±4.77and23.79±6.03respectively. These scores of the control group are12.49±4.06,20.18±6.19and30.39±6.86respectively. There is no differences in the knowledge scores between the experimental group and control group (P>O.05), while there are differences in attitude and practice scores between the experimental group and control group (P<0.05), which has statistical significance.3. The total energy intake of the experimental group is1963.96±243.60kcal, while the total energy intake of the control group is1821.34±251.78kcal (P<0.05), The percent of the carbohydrates intake in total heat energy of the experimental group is 66.34±5.67%, while the percent of the carbohydrates intake in total heat energy of the control group is56.24±3.87%(P<0.05). The total GL value intake the experimental group is249.61±45.21, while the total GL value intake of the value of the control group is224.50±24.20(P<0.05), The two group have significant difference in the intake of total energy, carbohydrates and total GL value.(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. This research, by surveying the knowledge, attitude and practice of the metabolic syndrome patients, can improve the patients understand this disease more deeply and can play a role in forming correct belief and having a healthy life.2. When carrying out the KAP questionnaire in the metabolic syndrome patients, we found out that we should propagandize the education of the nutrition knowledge in the patients and improve the knowledge of dietary nutrition among the citizens to change the poor eating habits.3. Compared with the control group, we find the patients with metabolic syndrome take more energy and total GL, which should be well controlled. |
