| Objective:To assess the feasibility and efficacy of preservation of the proximal urethra during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Methods:In a retrospective study, from January2014to January2015,31cases of preservation of the proximal urethra (group A) and26cases without preservation of the proximal (group B) during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy were proformed. Operative time, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, catheter detained time, positive Surgical Margins, complication were statisticed. Incontinence of urine were investigated in the cases followed-up.Results:The mean operative time, the mean intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, catheter detained time, positive Surgical Margins between these two kind of operations were not significant diffidence. Postoperative urinary continence status was assessed at the first day,2weeks,1month,3months after catheter removal, there were8(25.8%),15(48.1%)ã€24(77.4%)ã€27(87.1%) in Group A and2(7.7%)ã€5(19.2%)ã€9(34.6%)ã€14(53.8%) in Group B, respectively. There were significant differences in postoperative early continence between these two groups. Conclusion:The described technique is a feasible and safe method for preservation of the proximal urethra and allows improving the early recovery of urinary continence. The technique does not increase the rate of positive margins. |
