ObjectiveTo study the clinic pathological characteristics and the significance of the expression for Survivin, Ki-67 protein in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC)and HT with PTC.MethodsThe expressions of Survivin and Ki-67 protein were detected by immunohistoehemistry in 140 samples of thyroid tissue(20 hyroid adenoma tissue,40 Hashimoto’s thyroiditis tissue,40 papillary thyroid carcinoma tissue and 40 HT with PTC tissueResultsThe expression rate of Survivin was 10% in hyroid adenoma tissue,42.5% in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis tissue,77.5% in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissue, and 72.5% in HT with PTC tissue, showing a significant difference between hyroid adenoma and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis(x2=6.508, p=0.011), between hyroid adenoma and papillary thyroid carcinoma(x2=24.545, p=0.000), between hyroid adenoma and HT with PTC(x2=20.857, p=0.00),between LT with PTC and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (x2=7.366, p=0.007),but there was no significant difference between LT with PTC and papillary thyroid carcinoma(p>0.05). Analysis of clinical data shows Survivin expression levels were significantly different between groups in regards to Clinical pathologic grade(x2=4.477,p=0.034),lymphatic metastasis(x2=6.930,p= 0.008). However, there was no significant associations between Survivin expression and age (x2=0.189,p=0.664), gender(x2=0.005,p=0.944).The expression rate of Ki-67 was 15% in hyroid adenoma tissue,57.5% in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis tissue,67.5% in papillary thyroid carcinoma tissue, and 65% in HT with PTC tissue, showing a significant difference between hyroid adenoma and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (x2=9.808,p=0.002), between hyroid adenoma and papillary thyroid carcinoma (x2=14.700,p=0.000), between hyroid adenoma and HT with PTC (x2=13.348, p=0.000), but there was no significant difference between Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and LT with PTC(p>0.05),between Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and papillary thyroid carcinoma(p>0.05). Analysis of clinical data shows Ki-67 expression levels were significantly different between groups in regards to Clinical pathologic grade (x2=4.062,p=0.044), lymphatic metastasis (x2=7.016, p=0.00).However, there was no significant associations between Survivin expression and age (x2=0.101,p=0.75), gender (x2=0.23,p=0.631). The expression of Survivin protein was positively correlated with the expression of Ki-67 protein in LT with PTC (r=0.146, p=0.007).conclusionHT has close ties to PTC, HT has a certain tendency to become cancerous, overexpression of Survivin and Ki-67 may play crucial roles in the development and pathogenesis of thyroid cancer, the overexpression of Survivin and Ki-67 was closely related with the invasion and distant metastasis of thyroid cancer.
