Objective:The research through the determination of total adiponectin, High-mo lecular weight (HMW) adiponectin levels and small dense low-density lipoprotei n (sdLDL) to explore the assosiation between total adiponectin, HMW adiponecti n, HMW-total adiponectin ratio, sdLDL and coronary heart disease (CHD) and t he severity of coronary atherosclerosis, and to compare the value of their diagn osis of coronary heart disease. Methods:Serum levels of total and HMW adiponectin were measured by enzy me-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Cases consisted of 95 patients with co ronary angiograms and controls were 38 healthy individuals. The severity of cor onary atherosclerosis in the CHD group was defined using the Gensini score sy stem. Results:Patients with CHD had lower sdLDL, total adiponectin, high-molecular weight adiponectin concentrations, HMW-total adiponectin ratio than those with out CHD (P<0.01). Total adiponectin, high-molecular weight adiponectin, HMW-total adiponectin ratio were negatively correlated with the level of LDL-C and TG, and positively correlated with HDL-C. Total adiponectin and high-molecular weight adiponectin levels were significantly positive correlation with age (r=0.0 20 P<0.01, r=0.383 P<0.01). Total adiponectin, high-molecular weight adipone ctin and HMW-total adiponectin ratio were all inversely correlated with Gensini score (r=-0.018 P< 0.01, r=-0.528 P< 0.01, r=-0.389 P< 0.01), Howeve r, sdLDL was significantly positively related with Gensini score(r=0.621 P<0. 01). Areas under the ROC curves were no significantly different was observed between total adiponectin, high-molecular weight adiponectin, HMW-total adipon ectin ratio(P>0.05).Conclution:1.sdLDL, total adiponectin and high-molecular weight adiponectin can be used a s effective biomarkers for the severity of CHD;2.sdLDL, total adiponectin and high-molecular weight adiponectin have the pot ential to evaluate the severity of coronary atherosclerosis.
