[Objective] Set up the animal model of transplantation the tibial growth plate to repair the defect of condylar cartilage, to explore whether there are good biocompatibility between different types of cartilage and impact on the biological characteristics of condylar cartilage after tibial growth plate cartilage transplantation to repair condylar cartilage defects, to provide the experimental basis for the repair after condylar injury.[Methods] The 6-week-old male New Zealand white rabbits were divided into graft group, the defect group and the control group. Transplantation group causing its left side condylar to cylindrical defects which diameter 1.5mm,2mm deep and get the tibial growth plate cartilage which volume slightly larger than the defects, then graft it to the defect area. Defects group, resulting in the same size defect on its left side but not transplantation.Control group just normal feeding.2 weeks,4 weeks,6 weeks after transplantation were taken the left condylar of animals in three groups on specimens visually the condylar surface is intact or not. Using HE staining to observe the organizational structure change of condylar cartilage after repair and using immunohistochemical technique to detection the changes condylar cartilage type I and Ⅱ collagen expression. Observe the repair of congylar cartilage and the change of biological characteristics.[Results] The difference is obvious between transplantation group and defect group. Transplantation group 2 weeks view visible to the defect area was filling, condylar surface were completed,4 weeks and 6 weeks the joint surface is smooth, almost can not recognize the different between defect area and normal cartilage tissue. HE staining visible cartilage defect area filling,6 weeks filling the organization similar to normal cartilage performance.The expression of collagen type Ⅰ, Ⅱ increases with the breeding time increased. Defect group of view visible the condylar appearance is not complete, destruction is serious.HE staining of defect area is visible fibrous tissue and new angiogenesis, structure is different from normal cartilage.[Conclusion] Methods using the Osteochondral Autologous Transplantation to repair cartilage defects is feasible. For the 6 weeks old New Zealand white rabbits, defect in diameter 1.5mm, deep 2mm is unable to repair itself in the case of, show that autologous tibial growth plate can indeed coexist with condylar cartilage, and can be well combined with condylar cartilage. Proof of tibial growth plate cartilage can immediately to restore the integrity of the condylar cartilage, contribute to the supply of nutrients to the defect area around, to help new cartilage formation. New organization eventually showed morphological characteristics of mandibular condylar cartilage cells and the formation of the repair tissue and normal condylar cartilage morphology is basically the same.
