With the development of electronic and computer technology, Virtual reality technology has been widely used in many fields, such as national defense, military, biomedical, aerospace and education science. There are a lot of problems in conventional medical training, such as time consuming, low efficiency and high cost. To solve them, it led to the development of powerful multimodal virtual surgical systems. The trainees can do some operation in virtual surgical systems, such as cutting, touching, tearing, bleeding and burning. One of the major advantages of the system is that they are more efficient than training on patients. So, soft tissue deformation simulation is an important research field in virtual surgery simulation system.First of all, the architecture of the virtual surgery system is introduced in this paper. Each of the modules in the architecture is introduced in detail The different kinds of soft tissue are summarized in two aspects of geometry and physics model. Then, to get the liver point cloud model in virtual surgery system, the established model needs internal subdivision. Starting from the basic equations of elastic mechanics to deduce the discrete and variational formate of the equation. The method of tissue deformation simulation based on radial basis function point interpolation(RPIM) was proposed. The deformation simulation on three dimensional cantilever beams was simulated The result shows that the method is valid in simulation of the deformation of the beam. Next,the Kelvin viscoelastic model is added in the RPIM to represent the soft tissue relaxation, creep and hysteresist. And the Kelvin incremental format is used to solve the deformation equation. Finally, the deformation simulation on human stomach was simulated. Compared with the traditional finite element model, the result shows that this method not only ensure the high precision, but also improve the deformation calculation efficiency.The soft tissue deformation model based on radial basis interpolation method is established in the paper. This method does not need complex grid topology, saving the storage space and the algorithm has more advantages on the accuracy and computational efficiency. Providing a effective method to achieve the real-time interaction of virtual surgery system, which laid a solid foundation for the wide application of virtual surgery system.
