According to the traditional Chinese medicine’s basic theory, and combined with clinical experience in the long term of Professor Instructor You Jianliang, this study observes the patient nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma of salivary gland damage after radiotherapy treatment through the use of YuYeXiaoZhongSan. Now its theoretical research, clinical efficacy and drug experience as a summary.Object:This paper focuses on the role of YuYeXiaoZhongSan which designed by Professor Youjianliang in treating salivary gland injury caused by radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. We compared radiation damage to the salivary glands LENT/SOMA grading, static salivary flow and Nimodipine integration, and observed subcutaneous edema situation, Karnofsky (Karnofsky) score and cellular immune function between the treatment group and the control group during the study period. We evaluate YuYeXiaoZhongSan’s role in treating Salivary gland injury caused by radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas, provide benefical basis of the widespread use of YuYeXiaoZhongSan, and prdvide supportment in the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine in comprehensive treatment of tumors. Methods:There are 43 patients who met the inclusion have been randomly assigned into two groups:test group in which 22 cases were treated by YuYeXiaoZhongSan, and control group in which 21 cases were treated by KangFuXinYe. They were observed for five months using radiation damage to the salivary glands LENT/SOMA grading, Nimodipine integration, cinical symptoms, and Karnofsky (Karnofsky) score as assessment tools to evaluating YuYeXiaoZhongSan’s role in treating salivary gland injury caused by radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas.Results:(1) Patients using YuYeXiaoZhongSan displayed more effectively in reducing radiation damage to the salivary glands LENT/SOMA grading, improving saliva flow static and reducing Nimodipine integration. There is a significant difference between the two groups (P< 0.05). (2) Patients using YuYeXiaoZhongSan displayed more effectively in reducing the incidence of subcutaneous edema, improving physical condition and immune function. There is a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). (3) In terms of safety indicators, the two groups were compared to the situation of leucopenia. According to statistical analysis, there is no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusions:Compared with KangFuXinYe, YuYeXiaoZhongSan can more significantly reduce damage after radiotherapy, improve quality of life, enhance immunity, worthy of clinical application.
