Cynanchum otophyllum Schneid, belonging to the genus Asclepiadaceae, is distributed in southwest China. Its root has been used to treatment of epilepsy, nephropathy, rheumatism in Chinese folk. Previous investigation showed the CHCl3extract had biological activity. In order to further study of structure and biological activity of compounds,29steroids were isolated from CHCl3extract of C. otophyllum. Among them, compounds1-16were new compounds, compounds18-19-.23and25-29were isolated from C. otophyllum for the first time. caudatin, qinyangshengenin, gagaminin, kidjoranin and penupogenin had as the aglycone moiety, and digitoxose, oleandrose, cymarose, and thevetose consisted component sugars. Their structures were deduced by detailed spectroscopic analysis and chemical means.
