Objective:The purpose of this investigation is to complete a retrospective analysis of COPD-inpatient databases in the First People’s Hospital of Yangquan from November2011to April2013. It include:(1) Investigating general data and severity of COPD on admi-ssion, the cost, treatment at stable conditions, received Chinese medicines concurrently at among393cases of COPD-inpatient;(2) Describing related diseases among COPD patients and adverse drug reaction;(3)To explore the treatment timing and methods of taking about Chinese medicines, to increase of efficiency of consultation by traditional Chinese physician, enhancing the effect of integrated traditional and western medicine control of COPD. Methods:A retrospective cohort study was performed. The data bases include information of hospitalized COPD Patients in the first people hospital of Yangquan from November1,2011to April23,2013were enrolled. The Databases Provide general data of the Patients, major diagnosis, other diagnosis medical expenses etc. The data were cleaned using Excel and analyzed using SPSS18.0.Results:(1)There were total393COPD Patients were investigated, with301male patients (76.60%) and92female patients (23.40%);M/F3:27:1. Average age was74.40±10.40years old.148patients (33.70%)were admitted to hospital Through the emergency.(2)There are338patients (86.01%) with complications at least1type, There are1to17types complications. There are113cases with cardiovascular diseases,43cases for ischemic heart disease,39cases for hypertension,78cases for heart failure,7cases for osteoporosis, llcases for diabetes mellitus. There are113cases(28.75%) combining failure of respiration.(3) Hospital days of393COPD patients froml to130days, The average is hospitalized number of days16±35day; the average inpatient cost was10368±5620.34rmb, western medicine cost was8207+3429.31rmb, Chinese medicine fee was1356±879.34rmb.The prevalences of COPD related diseases has a tendency of increase as the age increase For all age groups.(4)206patients (52.42%) received treatment by Traditional Chinese medicine injection,19patients (4.23%)was consulted by traditional Chinese physician.(5)The adverse reaction of antibiotics ranked first, next was analgesic-antipyretic and Traditional Chinese medicine injection. Conclusions:(1)393COPD patients’condition were serious on admission, they were treated by western medicine majorly, adjuvant therapy was adopted by Chinese medicine. Most of patients were injected Traditional Chinese medicine injection without consulting by traditional Chinese physician.(2) The prevalences of393COPD related diseases has a tendency of increase as the age increase For all age groups. The adverse reaction of antibiotics ranked first=(3)Management of COPD should be improved for patient at stable conditions, Strengthening the combination of Chinese and Western medicine treatment, so as to improve patient’s quality of life and reduce the cost of illness.
