Background and Objective:In21st century, type2diabetes has become one of the most important diseases that threaten people’s health and life. Now, there are many kinds of antidiabetic drugs. Although they can control blood glucose and delay diabetes progression at some degree, most of them can not prevent diabetes’s pathophysiologic progression. Recently, oxidative stress has attracted public’s concern. Studies have found that liraglutide can decrease the oxidative stress level independent of its antidiabetic effect. And also it can inhibit β cells’ apoptosis and promote their proliferation and differentiation. Objective:To identity liraglutide’s effect of decreasing the oxidative stress level in type2diabetes patients, and also this effect is independent of its antidiabetic effect. Methods:According to the including and excluding criteria,60type2diabetes were randomly assigned to liraglutide or lantus for12weeks. In this trial, the goal was fasting blood glucose<7mmol/L. The primary endpoints: malondialdehyde(MDA),8-iso-prostaglandin F2a(8-iso-PGF2a),superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px). Other endpoints:fasting and post c-peptide, tumor necrosis factora(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), high sensitivity c reactive protein(hsCRP).Results:There was no difference between the two groups’HbAlc before(8.1vs7.8, p=0.49)and after(6.6vs6.8, p=0.66)the treatment. Before treatment no difference existed in fasting c-peptide(2.47vs2.81ng/ml,p=0.44) and IL-1β(142.3vs153.9pg/ml,p=0.38)between two groups, after12weeks, fasting c-peptide was higher in liraglutide group(3.73vs2.18ng/ml, p=0.01), IL-1β was lower in liraglutide group(105.8vs123.2pg/ml,p=0.02). The increased value of GSH-Px was higher in liraglutide group(47.9vs37.96u/ml),the increased percent was46.6%and35.5%; the decreased value of TNF-a(34.25vs24.63pg/ml)and SOD(45.02vs42.14u/ml) was higher in liraglutide group, decreased percent was21.0%vs19.2%and25.8%vs24.1%. Conclusion:Liraglutide can increase the level of fasting c-peptide and GSH-Px more than lantus, and also can decrease the level of IL-1β, TNF-α and SOD more than lantus. Therefore, liraglutide may reduce the oxidative stress directly.
