Objective: To observe the serum level of IL-18and IL-32in chronic obstructivepulmonary disease(COPD) during the acute exacerbation and stable period to exploreclinical significance of the serum level change in COPD.Method: From December2013to May2014,47patients with an acute exacerbatedCOPD (AECOPD group),28patients with stable COPD (COPD group) and20evolunter(control group) were enrolled in this study. The IL-18and IL-32levels were measured byELISAand all patients with COPD accepted pulmonary function test. Results: The serum levels of IL-18and IL-32in AECOPD group were significantlyhigher than COPD group and control group (P<0.01). The serum levels of IL-18and IL-32in COPD group were significantly higher than control group(P<0.01). The serum levels ofIL-18and IL-32in the AECOPD group and COPD group were negatively correlated withFEV1pred%.Conclusion: The results showed that IL-18and IL-32might be involved in theinflammatory reaction of COPD. The serum levels of IL-18and IL-32in AECOPD weresignificantly higher than control group. There has a negative correlation between levels ofIL-18and IL-32and FEV1pred%with COPD.
