Objective To detect the expression and the correlation of delta-like ligand4(DLL4) and CD-105in pancreatic cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of DLL4and MVD in42specimens of pancreatic cancer and para-cancerous tissue. The microvessel density(MVD) was calculated with CD105staining for micro vessel endothelium and the correlation between expression of DLL4, MVD and clinicopathological parameters of pancreatic carcinoma was investigated. Results The expression of DLL4in pancreatic cancer was significantly higher than that in para-cancerous normal pancreatic tissue (64.3%vs20.0%X2=8.931, P<0.01). The lifetime in pancreatic cancer not expressing DLL4was significanty higher than that expressing DLL4(25Mvs13M X2=9.19, P<0.01).over-expression of DLL4in pancreatic cancer was positively related to the differentitation degree, TNM staging, metastasis and invasion(P<0.01), but not related to the Iocation, tumor size and histological types. The MVD in pancreatic cancer tissues was significanty higher than that in para-cancerous normal tissues(12.78±5.77vsl.2±0.768P<0.01). MVD was correlated with the diffirentitation degree,TNM staging, metastasis and invasion, but not with the tumor size, location-andhistological types.MVD in pancreatic cancer expressing DLL4was significanty higher than that in pancreatic cancer not expressing DLL4(x=9.247±4.32, P<0.01), and the expression of DLL4and MVD were positively correlated (r=0.530, P<0.01).Conclution DLL4expression may play an important role in pancreatic carcinogenesis by promoting angiogenesis and may be associated with tumor invasion ang metastasis.
