objective: To evaluate influence of propofol and sevoflurane on the implicitand explicit memories of the patients before the operationMethods:150inpatients(age18~65,ASAⅠ~Ⅱ,BMI18~30) were selectedrandomly. One hundred participants undergoing general anaesthesia for electivesurgery (NNIS0~2level)(50with propofol and50with sevoflurane) saw andlistened to a list of phrases before the anesthesia, and the ECG, Spo2, Etco2,HR,BIS, BP were recorded. Sufentanly and remifentanly were utilized foranalgesia, and Cisatracurium was utilized as relaxant. But Midazolam was notutilized throughout the whole anaesthesia. Within12to36h after phrasespresentation, memory was assessed using a phrases task, based on Buchner’smodel applied on the process dissociation procedure (PDP).50internal medicalinpatients as the Control group saw and listened the same phrases, and thenthey also accepted the text with the PDP in12to36h.Results: There was a statistically significant difference among the implicitmemory score (A) and the explicit memory score(R) of the propofol group, thesevoflurane group and the internal medical inpatients group (P<0.05).Theexplicit memory score of the internal medical inpatients group was higher thanthe that of the propofol group and the sevoflurane group(P<0.05), while theimplicit memory score of the internal medical inpatients group was higher than the that of sevoflurane group(P<0.05). The implicit memory score of thesevoflurane group was higher than the that of propofol group(P<0.05).The explicit memory score of the three group was correlation negatively withthe age. The51to65age group’s explicit memory score was lower than those ofthe other two age group in the propofol group obviously (P<0.05). The18to30age group’s explicit memory score was higher than those of the other two agegroup in the medical inpatients group and sevoflurane group (P<0.05).Conclusion: Propofol and Sevoflurane can decrease patient’s explicit memoryand implicit memory after Anesthesia within12to36h. The effect of thepropofol and sevoflurane on the explicit memory of the patients is moreobvious with the increasing age.Sevoflurane affects the implicit memory lessthan propofol.
