Objective:To compare the outcome of the posterior lumbar interbody fusion combined withposterolateral fusion and stand-alone posterior lumbar interbody fusion for the treatment oflumbar spinal stenosis. Methods:Retrospective analysis of2010March to2012December in our hospital werefollowed up and44cases of patients with lumbar spinal stenosis. According to itsoperation were divided into group A (PLIF,21cases) and group B (PLIF combined withPLF,23cases). The two groups were compared the operating time, bloodloss, drainage, complications. Based on theindex of Oswestry dysfunction (Oswestry DisabilityIndex,ODI)and Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score in evaluation of clinical curativeeffect, at the same time imaging observation, according to the Suk standard and CT toassess the bone fusion. Results:There was no statistically significant difference in gender, age, disease durationbetween the two groups. The mean operating time of PLIF+PLF group is significantlylonger than that in the PLIF group. The blood loss and drainage volume of PLIF+PLFgroup is significantly bigger than that in the PLIF group. All cases obtained preferablyclinical effect after the operation. The symptoms and signs before the operation werereleased, and clinical choiceness rate of two groups had no difference on statistics. At thelast follow-up, the JOA scores, and ODI of the two groups were significantly improvedwhen compared with the preoperative values. The fusion rate of two groups was nostatistically significant difference at the last follow-up. There was no significant differencebetween the two groups in the complications of operation. Conclusion:PLIF combined with PLF was similar with the short-term clinical curative effect ofpure PLIF for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis, PLIF combined with PLF increasedthe amount of blood loss, drainage volume and operating time.
