Objective To investigate the relationship between gene polymorphism of Paraoxonase1(PON1) Q-192R and ovarian cancer in Chinese Han population. Methods Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and gene sequencing technology wereapplied to determine the genotypes of PON1Q-192R in110ovarian cancer patientsand100age-matched healthy controls who were cured in our hospital. And genotypefrequency and allele frequency were compared in two sets. Genotype frequency wascompared in different histology type. Phenylacetate was used to detect enzymeactivity of PON1in blood serum. Micro-malondialdehyde was used to detect contentof MDA in blood serum. Results When compared with normal controls, significant difference was found ingenotype frequencies of PON1Q-192R in patients with ovarian cancer, and asignificant difference was also identified in allele gene frequencies. Genotypefrequencies of different histology types in ovarian cancer were not significantlydifferent from those of control. Serum PON1activity was found to be significantlylower in ovarian cancer(P=0.016﹤0.05),and content of MDA was found to besignificantly Higher in case(P=0.023﹤0.05).Conclusion The Q-192R polymorphism may be associated with the ovarian cancer inChinese Han population.
