ObjctiveTo investigate the effects of new antiepileptic drugs oxcarbazepineon male reproductive endocrine function in patients with epilepsy, drugdose possible, taking time, drug interactions and other factors for furtheranalysis, oxcarbazepine safe and effective anti-epileptic therapy theoryreference.MethodsCollected from March2013to March2015partial seizures patientswith epilepsy received treatment in our hospital and the first hospital ofJILIN univercity hospital neurology clinic based on clinicalmanifestations and EEG changes consistent with the International LeagueAgainst Epilepsy Epilepsy classification criteria in1981, untreated aswell as a single daily dose or in combination with taking OXC≥600mg85male epilepsy patients, aged between18-45years, duration is morethan six months, at the same time, recruit23healthy male volunteers,aged18-45years. In the early morning on an empty stomach beforeextracting oxcarbazepine blood5ml (experimental group had no episodesof12hours before the blood), blood collected revenue yellow tube, invertthe tube immediately,and anticoagulants mix makes3300turn/centrifuged, the serum was centrifuged for5minutes, then put it inrefrigerator with4degrees, determination of E2, P, T, FSH, LH, PRL andother indicators until specimens have been collected in order to eliminate measurement errors. Sexual function was assessed using the IIEF-5simple self-test, and records in the form of a questionnaire relatedinformation, all the data were analyzed using SPSS17.0statisticalsoftware, with each set of data (x±s), the differences between groupsusing t statistical analysis test, between two sets of data if homogeneity ofvariance, using independent sample t test, between two sets of data ifunequal variances, and further using student’s T-test test. P <0.05indicates significant difference.Results1.Compared with the group of CON,LH levels of the group of EPIwere significantly lower, P=0.018<0.05.2. Compared with EPI group, FSH levels of OXC group wassignificantly higher P=0.047<0.05; compared with CON group, thereproductive hormone levels of OXC group were not significantlydifferent (P>0.05).3. When oral dose is600mg, Compared with CON group,the groupof6MON, LH levels were significantly decreased, P=0.022<0.05.Compared with the group of CON, in the group of12MON,eachhormone levels were not significantly different (P>0.05). Compared withthe group of EPI, the group of6MON, the group of12MON, eachhormone levels were not significantly different (P>0.05); compared withthe treatment in the group of6MON, in the group of12MON eachhormone levels were not significantly different (P>0.05).When the dueation is six months, compared with the the group ofCON, the group of1200mg has no significant difference in hormonelevels (P>0.05,) compared with the group of EPI, in the group of1200mg,LH levels were significantly increased, P=0.048<0.05, FSH levelswere significantly increased, P=0.029<0.05; compared with the the group of600mg, the group of1200mg had no significant differencebetween the various hormone levels (P>0.05).5.In the group of OXC+LEV and the group of CON, EPI group,OXC group each reproductive hormone levels were not significantlydifferent (P>0.05).6.Compared with CON group, the group of OXC has no significantdifference in sexual function.Conclutions1. partial seizures can also affect reproductive hormone levels.2. oxcarbazepine may improve the reproductive hormone levels inman patients with epilepsy,the dose and duration are correlated.3. levetiracetam has not deteriorated the effects of oxcarbazepine onreproductive endocrine hormones, it is ideal for combination therapy.Innovation and SignificanceDomestic research on the relations between traditional anti-epilepticdrugs and reproductive endocrine hormones are more.innovative in thisstudy is the first clinical study in the domestic impact of oxcarbazepinecombination of reproductive endocrinology and provide a basis forclinical use, while the clinical research on reproductive endocrinefunction in man is the earlier.Study limitations1.AEDs affect sex hormone levels in the pathogenesis needs furtherstudy.2. The study of relationship between different doses ofoxcarbazepine and reproductive endocrine function needs further studydue to the limitations of the number of samples collected.
