Objective To study the feasibility of uniportal video assistedthoracoscopic pulmonary resection in lung diseases, and to provide ourexperience in the application of this new technique. Methods Uniportal video assisted thoracoscopic was performed forpulmonary resection(lobectomy or limited pulmonary resection) in100patientswith lung diseases from March2013to September2014, and the clinical data ofall patients were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were39male and61female. The average age was(54.6±10.9). The uniportal video assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy and limitedpulmonary resection were successfully performed in52and44patientsrespectively. There were only4cases converted into thoracotomy because ofsevere hila adhesion (1case) and uncontrolled intraoperative hemorrhage (2forinterlobar pulmonary artery rupture and one for pulmonary vein rupture). Themean operative time was (124±66)min, the mean intraoperative blood loss was(100±65)ml, the mean thoracic drainage time was (4.1±3.0)d, and the meanhospital stay was (8.3±3.6)d. All patients were discharged uneventfully withoutpostoperative complications and30d postoperative death. Conclusion The uniportal video assisted thoracoscopic pulmonaryresection is a safe and feasible new minimally invasive technique, and it is worthy to promote in thoracic surgery.
