"Study on the Gastrodia elata Pieces specifications and quality evaluation standard research" comes from the State Administration of Traditional. We plan to survey the production and circulation of market of Gastrodia elata Pieces. On the basis of traditional classification of Gastrodia elata Pieces, we combine with modern scientific methods to prepare specifications of Gastrodia elata Pieces and evaluate standard of quality. Then to develop and improve the quality of Gastrodia elata Pieces specifications and its evaluation criteria.The grade of Tradition Chinese Medicine Pieces is a sign of quality and the basis of commodity pricing. The Standard of76medicinal products specifications can not been applied to reflect the quality any more. Bescuse this standard can not reflect the principle of "high quality high price" on account of the change of medicine commodity market. We choose Gastrodia elata pieces as the research object due to it is a very improment traditional chinese medicine in china and used very wide application. Then we collected24batches of Gastrodia elata pieces from the genuine producing place (Shanxi Hanzhong) and the main producing places (Guizhou Dafang and Sichuan Mianyang). Research group innovatively bring forward the "three-step" hierarchical concept to grade for Gastrodia elata pieces:①Samples which suit for Gastrodia elata pieces quality standard about traits, content determination, inspection in ChP2010edition were determined as the general level. The samples which meet the requirements of Gastrodia elata Pieces called nonconforming produc and divided into the third level. After the experiment, the24Gastrodia elata Pieces were all nonconforming produc. For this moment,24Gastrodia elata Pieces were divided into third level;②According to the method of pieces traditional classification, length were adopted as evaluation indicators to divide the second level. We all collected24samples and combine with the method of traditional and marker classification. As a result, six Gastrodia elata Pieces samples were determined as the third level (S3-S6, S20and S21), while the other18samples were determined as the second level (S1, S2, S7-S19, S22-S24).③Base on the method of traditional classification, we also explore the content of Gastrodin and extract. Then we found four Gastrodia elata Pieces samples as the first level (S11-S14), the other14samples (S1,S2,S7-S10,S15-S19,S22-S24) as the second level. This method grades by multi-index indicators hierarchically to not only avoid the appearance of grading by shape in commodity markets but also avoid the single " the only ingredient determine by the content". At the same time, the quality evaluation criteria of different grades Gastrodia elata Pieces was formulated to guide grading more scientifically and reasonably.
