Objective:In order to Improve the dentition defect caused by traditional treatment of epulis to remove the adjacent teeth,this paper studies the therapeutic effect and aesthetic effect of periodontal surgery in the treatment of epulis.Methods:A total of6patients who were diagnosed as epulis at the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Medical School of Zhejiang University were enrolled and underwent initial, non surgical, periodontal treatment and training sessions on home oral hygiene training. The treatment plan involved resection of epulis combined with flap surgery,or resection of epulis combined with laterally positioned flap surgery depending on the size and position of the epulis. Record debris index, calculus index, gingival index, bleeding on probing BOP, tooth mobility, the case of gingival.To observe treatment and aesthetic effect of the surgical treatments for epulis.Results:Record the case of preoperative and post-operative in1week,3month or in6months,5patients were retrieved and1patient lost due to the inconvenience of seeing a doctor. The area were red and swollen after one week, gingival flap grow well. Follow-up of3months and6months,5cases were effective and1case was inefficient.5patients had an aesthetically satisfactory gingival appearance. The mobility degree of adjacent teeth were not increased.Conclusions:Compared to the traditional treatment of with epulis to remove the adjacent teeth, periodontal surgery remove of the lesion completely. And preserving the integrity of the dentition and morphology and function of gingival. When the patients maintain good oral hygiene, the final treatment result makes it worthwhile.
