Objective:To study the value of the thin layer and post-processing technique of multi-slice spiralct in diagnosing the orbital blowout fracture, and contrast and then analyze the wholediagnostic value of orbital blowout fracture among the thin layer,MPR and VRafterprocessing techniques so as to supply more precise, dependable evidence for clinicaltreatment.Materials and Methods:162patients with orbital blowout fractures who treated in Affiliated Hospital ofTaishan Medical College from July2012to December2013were collected. All of thesecases were examined preoperatively under CT scans,MPR and VR afterprocessingtechniques of orbit, then processed25cases’ source images using CPR. To contrast thestatistical result of the conventional transaxial images of the medial orbital wall fractures, the inferior orbital wall fractures, the fractures occurred between these two regions with theimages of thin layer, MPR and VR afterprocessing techniques using the statistical analysismethod. These results were classified into three grades:the grade one group(the fractureswhich could be found in the images of thin layer and afterprocessing techniques butcoundn’t in the transaxial images),the grade two group(the fractures which could beconfirmed in the images of thin layer and afterprocessing techniques but cound only beidentified as suspicious in the transaxial images), the grade three group(the fractures whichcould be confirmed both in the images of thin layer and afterprocessing techniques and thetransaxial images). Then to contrast the statistical result of the conventional transaxialimages of the quantity of the teardrop signs and the fractures which occurred near the orbitwith the images of thin layer,MPR and VR afterprocessing techniques also using thestatistical analysis method. Results:①Compared with the thin layer images and the transaxial images,P>0.05,the resultsof displaying the medial orbital wall fractures, the inferior orbital wall fractures, thefractures occurred between these two regions show no significant deviation betweenthem. Then compared with the afterprocessing techniques images and the transaxial images, there are both statistical differences on displaying the inferior orbital wallfractures(P<0.01)and the medial orbital wall fractures(P<0.01),but no statisticaldifferences on showing the fractures occurred between these two regions(P>0.05).②Thenumber of the fractures in the grade one group is14.This number in the grade two groupand grade three group is15and176, respectively. We can find176fractures in thetransaxial images,and205fractures in the images of the thin layer and afterprocessingtechniques,including124medial orbital wall fractures,58inferior orbital wall fractures and23fractures occurred between these two regions. We could find all the fractures show in thetransaxial images combined with the thin layer and afterprocessing techniques.Theyconfirm29fractures which couldn’t be confirmed in the former images. There are statisticaldifferences when show the quantity of the teardrop signs between the thin layer techniqueand the transaxial CT scan(P<0.05).The results of showing the fractures which occurrednear the orbit in the thin layer images have significant statistical advantage when comparedwith the transaxial CT scan images(P<0.01).The images of the afterprocessing techniqueshave both statistical differences when show the the former(P<0.05) and the latter(p<0.01)signs compared with transaxial CT scan images.Conclusion:1.Compared with the the transaxial CT scan, the thin layer and afterprocessingtechniques of multi-slice spiral ct could effectively reduce the number of the fault andmissed diagnoses when we diagnose orbital blowout fracture patients and improve thedetection rate. It could better display the fractures which belong to grade one and gradetwo.2.The thin layer and afterprocessing techniques of multi-slice spiral ct could show theteardrop signs and the fractures which occurred near the orbit very well when comparedwith the transaxial CT scan.3.We could observe fracture from every angle by using thesetechniques. They have a great reference value for the clinical surgeries.
