ObjectiveA retrospective study of methods to collect70cases of ALS patients with symptoms of Chinese characteristic and Chinese herbal medicine treatment, then discuss the features of syndrome and the discipline of herbal medicine treatment, it is wished to provide certain references and bases for syndrome differentiation and treatment variation of ALS.MethodsDesign clinical information table according to Chinese medicine diagnostic criteria and medical literature research. To collect the general information, medical history, four diagnostic information and Chinese herbal medicine treatment about70patients with final diagnosis ALS by retrospective study. To make statistic of observation data using statistical software SPSS13.0by descriptive analysis, cluster analysis, then discuss the features of syndrome and the discipline of herbal medicine treatment.ResultsThe youngest of the70ALS patients is24years old, the oldest is72years old, the average age is49.79±9.980years old, more of them are51-60years old, and41-50years old next. The number of male is46, female is24, the male to female ratio approximately1.92:1, the average duration is23.17±20.68months.The most important clinical symptoms:limb weakness, amyotrophy, muscular twitching, braylalia, dysphgia, fatigue, dysdipsia, insomnia, holding things instability, emaciate; The common tongue features:pale tongue, red tongue, dark tongue, soft tongue, trembling tongue, greasy tongue fur, thin tongue fur, yellow tongue fur, The common pulse features:small pulse, string pulse, weak pulse. according to frequency analysis and cluster analysis, summarize the clinical symptoms into three patterns of syndrome:spleen deficiency; liver and kidney deficiency, with obstruction of collateral caused by windphlegm and static blood; spleen deficiency, with obstruction of collateral caused by windphlegm.In the field of using Chinese herbal medicine to treat the disease, the tonic take up the first place. Meanwhile the herbal for calming liver to stop endogenous wind, herbal for invigorating blood circulation, relieving exterior syndrome, reducing phlegm and relieving cough is also commonly used.In the cluster of the common herbal medicine, it is suitable to cluster them into four categories.
