Influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses. Influenza belongs to the exogenous heat disease, epidemic disease category in Chinese Medicine. Abnormal climate, virtual man and toxin are essential factors for influenza epidemic. The recent literatures on prevention and treatment of influenza with Chinese Medicine were reviewed in this paper. We explore the pathogenic mechanisms of mice with influenza virus infected in body weight, body weight difference, body temperature, morphology of lung tissue, lung weight, lung index, Angiotensin Ⅱ(All) levels in lung homogenate. Two kinds of BAN LAN GEN were used as the experimental medicine at the same time. One is from Gansu province and the other one is from Anhui province. Tami-flu was used as the positive control drug. Effects of the extraction from BAN LAN GEN on lung index of mice were researched with variance analysis of SPSS.Results showed that mice infected with influenza virus weight lost, weight differen-ce decreased more, body temperature decreased, lung edema caused, lung weight and pulmonary index increased, Angiotensin Ⅱ levels had no change in lung homogenate. Body weight difference is consistent with lung index in evaluation of drug effect. On the 4th day of infection, especially, body weight difference can be used to predict drug effect.Body weight difference is a useful indicator, which can not only save a lot of work and money, but also increase work efficiently. Meanwhile, the drug effect can be known before mice dissected and in accordance with the diagnostic features of Chinese Medicine. It is significant for research on Chinese Medical animal model and diagnosis treatment. In addition, this study found that BAN LAN GEN in Gansu province and Anhui province has no effect on mice with influenza virus infected. Protein content of Gansu BAN LAN GEN is 9.77%. It provides reference for industrialization development on BAN LAN GEN in Gansu province of China.Topic is independently-funded 2014 by Institute of Basic Theory of China Academ-y of Chinese Medical Sciences, YZ-1413.
