Objective:To evaluate the cognitive impairment status and the emotion of adult patients with OSAHS, and to explorethe relationship between sleep disturbance, nighttime intermittenthypoxia, disease severity and cognitive dysfunction and emotion. Methods:It is a prospective investigation that comprised 131 patients with OSAHS who were used Polysomnography(PSG),scale and homemade questionnaire. Results:(1)The incidence of cognitive dysfunction was different in patients with various severities of OSAHS (χ2=30.302,P=0.000).There was a difference between the incidence of moderate group and mild group, severe group and moderate group in pairwise comparison after adjusting P value.(2) There was negative correlation with AHI (r=-0.547,P=0.000)、ESS (r=-0.472, P=0.000)、age (r=-0.423, P=0.000) and BMI (r=-0.289, P=0.000), there was a positive correlation with LSO(r=0.561, P=0.000)、S3(r=0.230, P=0.003)、the length of schooling (r=0.449, P=0.000) and REM(r=0.215, P=0.007).(3) The score of HAMA was close positive correlation with AHI (r=0.429, P=0.000), ESS(r=0.253, P=0.001) and S1+S2(r=0.197, P=0.015), it was negative correlation with S3(r=-0.176, P=0.030) and REM (r=-0.280, P=0.001). There was negative correlation between the total score of MoCA (r=-0.351, P=0.000), executive function(r=-0.215,P=0.007), calculation(r=-0.121, P=0.015),abstraction (r=-0.326, P=0.000), memory (r=-0.247, P=0.002) and HAMA in OSAHS patients.Conclusion:(1) Approximately 75% OSAHS patients showed varying severities of cognitive impairment. Cognitive impairment in OSAHS patients was associated with nighttime intermittent hypoxia/hypopnea and sleep disturbance.(2) About 40% patients with OSAHS presented anxiety, which resulted from nighttime apnea/hypopnea, sleep disturbance and cognitive dysfunction. OSAHS patients with anxiety were more prone to appear cognitive impairment.
