Objective: To explore the constitutive characteristics and influencing factors of the hospitalization expense for operation treated patients with submandibular gland calculus,to study the differences of hospitalization expense and its influencing factors, and to provide evidence basis and scientific provide to decrease the medical burden and containment fast increase of medical expense. Methods: The operation treated patients with submandibular gland calculus in People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and The First Teaching Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from Jan. 1st,2006 to Dec. 31 th, 2014 were taken as study objects. Demographic characteristics was analyzed for the general information of patients, multiple regression analysis were taken to analyze the constitutive characteristics of hospitalization expense and influencing factors. Results: 121 patients were included in our study, 55 were from People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region(45.45%) and 66 from The First Teaching Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University(54.55%), the percentage of young adults(aged from 20 to49) was the highest(63.60%), and the male were more than the female. The average hospitalization expenses was(8563.65±3756.78) yuan, median value was 8470.02 yuan;the percentage of medicine expense was 42.73%, operation expense was 10.48% and anesthesia expense was 10.04%; there were no significant differences of average hospitalization expenses and constitutive characteristics of hospitalization expenses between the patients from the two hospitals(P>0.05); the results of multiple regression analysis showed, western medicine cost, Chinese medicine cost and examination cost were the significant influencing factors of hospitalization expense for operation treated patients with submandibular gland calculus(P<0.05). Conclusion: The percentage of medicine expense was the highest cost of the hospitalization expense, according to the controllable and uncontrollable factors of different diseases to establish the limit cost, properly increase the labour expense of medical technicians, strictly control medicine expense, thatmight be an effective method to decrease the medical burden and containment fast increase of medical expense.
