| BackgroundGuided by one of the basic principle Developing Chinese Medicine by Inheritance and Innovation, it is of great significance to inherit and develop the academic ideas from outstanding Chinese medicine doctor thoroughly.As an outstanding senior Chinese medicine doctor nationwide, Zhou Aixiang has dedicated to his career for over sixty years and conceived abundant experience, especially the unique theory as utilizing clearing heat and detoxicif ication therapy for leukemia. Director physician Hu Xiaomei has not only inherited famus doctor Zhou’s academic ideas, but also formed her own features during the clinical practice over years, she has invented the method of tonifying Yang and detoxification in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Both leukemia and MDS are classified as malignant hematologic diseases, and MDS will progress to leukemia if it couldn’ t be treated effectively.It’s my honor to study on the academic origin, features and experience from both of doctors, and here I summarized Dr. Hu’s inheritance and development from Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas in the treatment of malignant hematologic diseases by removing toxin.Object:To summarize and analyze Dr. Hu’s inheritance and development from Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas in the treatment of malignant hematologic diseases by removing toxin.Method:During study from the above two doctors, I summarized their academic origin, ideas and features, analyzed Dr. Hu’s inheritance and development on Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas on treating malignant hematologic diseases by detoxification method. I collected their clinical cases and compared these cases from principle-method-recipe-medicines aspects, I analyzed the clinical application of Dr. Zhou’s experience by Dr. Hu. By analyzing the same and different opinions of these two doctors, I hereby discussed Dr. Hu’s development on Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas on treating malignant hematologic diseases by detoxification method.Results:1. Dr. Hu’s inherited from Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas in the treatment of malignant hematologic diseases by removing toxin.1.1 The academic origin of the two doctorsDr. Zhou studied western medicine at first, and followed by Chinese Medicine. Classic books, as well as different famous doctors’ideas brought in and formed his abundant, unique therapeutic experience. For example, he emphasized on detoxification, clear heat and tonify deficiency in the treatment of leukemia. Dr. Hu, as Dr. Zhou’s heritage, studied on classic books combined with clinical practice, favoured the theory of tonifying Yang, which was also the therapeutic method in the treatment of MDS.1.2 The academic views of the two doctorsDr. Zhou holds the view that the toxic heat is the main pathogen for leukemia, the toxic heat is trapped into the bone marrow, leads to the combination with blood stasis and suspension of blood. Dr. Hu presents her ideas that the MDS is due to subtle Yang and hidden toxic cold.1.3 The academic features of the two doctorsDr. Zhou treated leukemia by a main method of clearing heat and detoxification, he used a big dosage of QingHuangPowder, of which Qingdai is the main content to clear toxic heat, Xionghuang reversely assist. Qingdai due to its heat nature. He combined usually with other herbs to clear heat.Dr. Hu treated MDS by a main method of warm Yang and detoxification, she used a low dosage of QingHuang Powder, of which Xionghuang is the main content to clear warm Yang, QingDai reversely assist Xionghuang due to its cool nature. He combined usually with XiangShaLiuJun combined with LiuWeiDiHuang are also applicated to tonify spleen and kidney Yang.2. Dr. Hu developed Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas in the treatment of malignant hematologic diseases by removing toxin.2.1 Foundation:Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas.Dr. Hu inherited Dr. Zhou’s academic idea, toxity was the main pathogen for malignant hematologic diseases based on the consideration of combination syndrome with symptom differentiation.2.2 Expaintions:from antient classicsDr. Hu thought that toxic cold plays an important role in the pathogenesis of MDS, base on the theory:"Cold pathogen leads to lump, cold pathogen invades gastrointestine and brings out lump...etc"2.3 Refinement:clinical practiceDr. Hu thought that Warm and clear toxic cold, tonify kidney and spleen, replenish lung and essence. Combine clearing with tonifying, a good clinical outcome may be seen.2.4 Prevention:prevent the progress of disease.The grade of condition is different:althought both MDS and leukemia are classified into malignant hematologic diseases and possess the same nature--toxic pathogenisis, MDS is less serious than leukemia.The stage of condition is different:if patients with MDS could not be cured on time, the cold pathogen would accumulate and switch into heat, which means the MDS would progress to leukemia, a. disease hardly to be cured.MDS will not progress to leukemia after treatment with a low dosage of Qinghuang Powder (QHP), which containing Xionghuang as the chief herb.2.5 Laboratory experimentAs2S2, the active ingredient of Xionghuang, could induce cell apoptosis, arrest G2/M stage and decrease expression level of DNMT3a in MDS and leukemia cell line, which might be one of the therapeutic mechanism of Xionghuang.Conclusion:Dr. Hu inherited Dr. Zhou’s academic viewpoints such as toxic pathgen leads to malignant hematologic diseases. By clinical practice and reviewing literature, Dr. Hu proposed the idea that subtle Yang and hidden toxic could mainly cause MDS. If patients with MDS could not be cured on time, the cold pathgen would accumulate and switch into heat, thus the MDS would progress to leukemia, which is hardly to be cured. When using a low dosage of Qinghuang Powder and taking Xionghuang as the chief herb for the treatment of MDS, leukemia could be prevented. Dr. Hu’s opinions has been proved by clincial practice and laboratory experiment, she promoted Dr. Zhou’s academic ideas as well as expanded the concept of tonifying Yang. |
