| Objective:To investigate minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosythesis (MIPPO) for treatment of tibial shaft fractures. Methods:From in Lanzhou Military Region General Hospital Orthopedic Center of Urumqi January 2010 to March 2013, MIPPO was used for treatment of tibial shaft fractures in 38 patients(MIPPO group), and open reduction and internal fixation for treatment of 30 patients (open reduction group). The incision length, operative time, blood loss, mean postoperative hospital stay, time of fracture healing, the incidence of complications, function recovery according to Johner-Wruhs scoring system were retrospectiverly analyzed and compared between the two groups and statistical analysis was performed. Results:The follow-up period ranged from 12 to 24 months (mean 18.3months).There were significant differences in incision length, operative time, blood loss, mean postoperative hospital stay, time of fracture healing between the two groups(P<0.05). But there was no significant differences in the incidence of complications and Johner-Wruhs scoring((P> 0.05). Conclusion:MIPPO technology treatment of tibia shaft fracture conforms to the principle of biological fixation, better than traditional open reduction and internal fixation has certain advantages, is the treatment of tibia shaft fracture effective method. |
