Abstract/Summary:
Objective: To investigate the quality of life of patients after cholecystectomy, survey the current situation and the incidence of postcholecystectomy syndrome(PCS), and to analyze the possible causes of PCS via follow-up interviews. In order to supply a novel cognition and valid theoretical supports to indication of cholecystectomy, standards of diagnosis and treat for the gallbladder related diseases, prediction for PCS and its preoperative assessment, postoperative care and propaganda. Methods: By using the method of random sampling, we surveyed 338 patients who had cholecystectomy in the department of hepatobiliary surgery in Jining Medical College Affiliated Hospital during 2013 May 1st to 2014 April 30 th. We got data successfully from 316 patients including 101 male and 215 female. According to diagnostic criteria for PCS, all the patients could be divided into two categories, with PCS and without PCS. All the patients did the same questionnaires to investigate a total of 14 aspects including age, sex, blood, body mass index, drinking, smoking, mental anxiety, diabetes, oral cholagogue, dietary preferences, disease properties, surgical procedures, preoperative symptom, and the length of course. Using ?2 analysis and logistic regression analysis, we studied the correlation between these factors and PCS and determined whether these factors could be pathogenic. Results: There were 115 patients(36.39%) who had been diagnosed with PCS in the total successfully follow-up survey of 316 patients. That is to say in the random sampling, the incidence of PCS was 36.39%. In these 14 risk factors, age(less than 45 years-old), blood(B), preoperative symptoms(existing symptoms) and mental anxiety symptoms(present) are closely associated with the occurrence of PCS with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). And there was no obvious correlation between the incidence of PCS and the rest 10 factors such as gender, body mass index, drinking, smoking, diabetes, taking cholagogue, dietary preferences, disease properties, surgical procedures, the length of the course of the disease. Conclusion: The morbidity of postcholecystectomy syndrome was 36.39 %. The major risk factors leading to the occurrence of PCS includes age, blood type, mental anxiety and preoperative symptoms.
