Objective:To investigate the prognostic factors of children with sacrococcygeal teratoma, we analysed the clinical data and prognosis of SCT retrospectively. Thus the long-term prognosis, quality of life and survival rate after surgery may be impoved by properly interposing these prognostic factors as far as possible. This research is also supposed to be a kind of reference for the comprehensive treatment of children with sacrococcygeal teratoma.Materials and methods: We’ve collected the clinical data of 62 children with sacrococcygeal teratoma in our hospital from January 2006 to June 2014 including eight factors of sex, diagnostic age, clinical classification, tumor size, tumor traits, the serum AFP, athological type and postoperative complications. The postoperative recurrence and canceration of teratoma has been followed up at the same time. Then we made statistical analysis by SPSS on each prognostic factor. There was statistically significant difference when P<0.05.Results:1.Single factor chi-square analysis was made to analyze the eight factors of sex, diagnostic age, clinical classification, tumor size, tumor traits, the serum AFP, athological type and postoperative complications. Results showed that diagnostic age, clinical classification, tumor traits and pathological type were significantly associated with the prognosis of children with sacrococcygeal teratoma.Patients who got older diagnostic age, higher clinical classification(type III, IV), capsule solid mixed or solid tumor, immature pathological type, would probably suffer poorer prognosis. There was statistically significant difference(P<0.05).However, sex, tumor size, the serum AFP or postoperative complications were not the prognostic factors. There was no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).2.Multiariable Logistic regression analysis was then made to analyze the statistically significant factors of diagnostic age, clinical classification, tumor traits and pathological type. Results showed that diagnostic age, clinical classification, and pathological type were significantly associated with prognosis(P<0.05),but tumor traits was not a significant prognostic factor(P>0.05).Coclusion: Statistical analysis showed that diagnostic age, clinical classification, tumor traits and pathological type were prognostic related factors of children with sacrococcygeal teratoma.Especially diagnostic age, clinical classification, and pathological type were the risk factors of poor prognosis. Surgical excision should be taken up as soon as possible after diagnosis.
