Objective:To investigate the causes of death in patients with tuberosity fracture in patients and analyze the relative risk factors to establish the theoretic and provide a guide for a further improvement of curative effect. Methods:The clinical data of 132 senile patients with tuberosity fracture were analyzed and the causes of death were investigated. The clinical data were collected for statistical analysis inorder to analyse the factors affecting the mortality of these groups. All the predictive risk factors were dealt with χ2 test and multivariate Logistic regression analysisResults:At the end of 1 year follow-up,35 cases of senile patients with tuberosity fracture died and 97 patients survived, with the mortality 25.93%. The causes of death were pulmonary infection in 13 cases, cerebral infarction in 3 cases, acute myocardial infarction in 6 cases, massive hemorrhage of gastrointestinal tract in 4 cases, various diseases cause multiple organ function failure in 7 cases and other diseases in 2 cases. Pulmonary infection was the main cause of death. Complications after surgical treatment for senile tuberosity fracture were pulmonary infection (19.7%), sudden cerebral infarction (3.79%), acute myocardial infarction (4.55%) and various diseases causing multiple organ function failure (5.30%), New-onset arrhythmia (6.06%), urinary tract infections (5.30%).。Risk factors comparison results showed that cause of death related factors asage, number of comorbidities, complications before and after fracture. Hb and Alb insufficiency and anti osteoporosis treatment had significant effects on mortality in patients. The statistical indexand logistic regression analysis showed that the above indexes except osteoporosis treatment were the independent risk factors of the senile patients with tuberosity fracture. Early recovery activities in elderly patients with tuberosity fracture can significantly reduce mortality (P<0.05). postoperative mortality Intramedullary fixation had no obvious difference in postoperative mortality compared with external medullary fixation(P>0.05). Anti osteoporosis treatment had a higher survival rate of 77.14%(P<0.05).Conclusion:Ⅰ Tuberosity fracture in senile patients has relatively high mortality. The treatment of such patients should pay attention to factors of active intervention in pre-fracture complications, early diagnosis and postoperative complications., operation treatment shuold be the first pick for patients and we shuold select the appropriatefixed mode according to the conditions of patientsII Early recovery after fracture activity can significantly reduce mortality. Postoperative antiosteoporosis treatment can significantly reduce the mortality of tuberosity fractureand improve the prognosis of patients.
