Polygonatum sibiricum Red. belongs to the Liliaceae family Polygonatum Mill which root can be used as the medicine. As a traditional Chinese medicine, it has the very high medicinal value.The fresh Polygonatum sibiricum Red. cannot be stored for a long time,which must be de-enzymed and dryed in time to reduce enzyme activity and microbial decomposition, eliminate the irritation and toxicity, maintain its medicinal component content effectively, facilitate storage and transportation, in order to reduce the late processing effort.With the development of the modern market economy, there is a growing demand for Polygonatum sibiricum Red. in recent years, in the practical production, there was some difference in different geographic primary processing, and now there was no unified quantitative standard to it. Therefore, this article combined with the appearance character of Polygonatum sibiricum Red., and used polysaccharide content, water-soluble extract content,ethanol-soluble extracts content as the important index indicators to select the best method of the primary processing technology of Polygonatum sibiricum Red. comprehensively.The research results in this paper are as follows:1. The score of boiling and steaming which are comprehensively optimized are 0.3789,0.1082. Combining with the appearance character of Polygonatum sibiricum Red., we can optimize that the boiling method is the best in all. The boiling time is : for the class one(DW per section ≥70g)15min; for the class two(70g >DW per section >30g)6min; for the class three(DW per section ≤30g)3min, and the water of boiling should cover the roots.2. The score of the four drying methods which are comprehensively optimized with the three important index indicators are: direct drying(0.5245); drying combined with sweating(0.2275); oven drying(0.4406); microwave drying(0.5653). Combining with the appearance character of Polygonatum sibiricum Red., we can optimize that the microwave drying method is the best compared with others. The processing parameter of microwave drying : high fire(700W)5min; med-high fire(539W)30min, and take it per 10min; low fire(385W)10min.3. To determine the active ingredients of the processed medicinal materials which growedin the 1~3years, the results show that it has an increasing trend of the index indicators of this medicinal materials, and the medicinal materials which growed in the third year has the most active ingredients. The polysaccharide content, water-soluble extract content, ethanol-soluble extracts content all increased with the growth of the Polygonatum sibiricum Red.The comprehensively optimizing result is: the active ingredient content of this medicinal materials growed in the third year>the second year>the first year. So, we adviced that the roots of this plant should be dug in the third year.
