Objective: To observe the clinical effects and safety of Kang’ai Baosheng pills in treating the patients with HIV infection in plague-poison containment and qi-yin deficiency type. Methods:A 6 months’ treatment to 60 patients with HIV infection in plague-poison containment and qi-yin deficiency type was implemented and an analysis of all patients’ TCM symptoms, CD4 indexes, blood RT, liver and renal functions, and weights was did.Results: In the aspect of the TCM symptoms, after the treatment, the number of the markedly effective treatments among the included patients was 20, of the effective was 14, and of the ineffective was 26, accounting for 33.3%, 23.3% and 43.3% of the total respectively, and the total effective rate was 56.6%; the total score of the symptoms was significantly lower after the treatment(p<0.05); the CD4+ lymphocyte count varied little after 3 months’ treatment, while enjoyed a significant increases at the end of the treatment; the Cr, Bun, Alt, Ast, Wbc, Plat, and Hb of the included patients varied little after the treatment and so did the weights.Conclusion: Kang’ai Baosheng pills could effectively reduce the TCM symptoms score and raise the level of the CD4 cells of HIV infectious patients in plague-poison containment and qi-yin deficiency type with no obvious clinical poisonous response. With certain curative effects in treating the HIV infectious patients in plague-poison containment and qi-yin deficiency type, Kang’ai Baosheng pills was worth for further study.
