Objective:This study was designed to investigate the relationship between the Primary Hepatic Carcinoma size and pseudocapsule investigated by Conventional Ultrasound (US) and Computed Tomography(CT),find their advantage for increasing the accuracy measured by ultrasound in smaller lesion, provide reference for differential diagnosis of PHC and the development of treatment plan.Method:We retrospectively evaluated the vertical diameter and pseudocapsule of nodules examined by CT and Ultrasound in 108 patients with PHC diagnosed by pathological or clinical data. Divided patients into large lesion group (> 5cm) and small size group (≤5cm) According to the measurement results of CT. Comparative analysis of the maximum diameter and halo sign/pseudocapsule situation displayed by Ultrasound and CT to determine whether they having difference.Results:1. There was significant difference among PHC size measured on Ultrasound and CT in 47 small group, and no difference in 61 big group (> 5cm).2. In 108 patients with PHC Ultrasound showed the halo sign in 59 cases (54.6%), CT showed 47 cases of false capsule (43.5%), Ultrasound combining with CT showed the halo sign/pseudocapsule in 70 cases (64.8%).There is no significant differences between CT and ultrasound showing halo sign/pseudo capsule of PHC (χ2=3.559, P=0.059), While has significant differences between CT combining with ultrasound and CT,and combing Ultrasound with CT is superior to CT.3. Correlation between ultrasound and CT measurement of large lesion group was higher than that of small lesions group. Conclusion:Both ultrasound and CT have the same effect in measuring the size of bigger lesion while CT maybe more reliable in access small lesions, the size measured in ultrasound bigger than measured in CT usually. There is no statistical difference between Ultrasound and CT, while Ultrasound combining with CT have better effect in accessing the pseudocapsule of PHC, so it is help for differential diagnosis of PHC.
