Nowadays, there are two advanced research methods in cells electrophysiological techniques. One is based on vitro MEA(microelectrode array) technology. This technology can record and stimulate different locus accurately at the same time and it will not damage the cells because of non-invasive. However, this method also has shortcomings. It can not control the spread of electrical stimulation in the medium, and thus will not be able to achieve precise stimulation. Another is the photolysis of caged compound technology, compared to the method of electrical stimulation based on MEA, its biggest advantage is that its stimulus area and stimulation time can be precisely controlled. Up to now, photolysis of caged compound technology is mainly single point stimulation and the spatial resolution and temporal resolution are still needed to be improved.Based on this, the thesis is presented the optic stimulation based on photolysis of caged compounds, to replace the electrical stimulation and traditional photolysis of caged compound technology. First of all, the research background and the research status was introduced and the importance of multimode optical stimulation system was shown. Besides, the core device of the array type optical nerve stimulation system was chose. Compared with the galvanometer, the DMD was chosen as the system core control device. What’s more, the array type optical nerve stimulation system was designed. The ZEMAX software was used to simulate the light focusing system and the light focusing system was completed. In addition, the design and implementation of multi-mode stimulation was completed and any spot stimulation mode was achieved. At last, the important influencing factors of the caged compound were studied, which laid the foundation for further experiment of nerve stimulation.A multimode nerve stimulation system based on optical release of caged-compound was completed in this thesis. With this system, a 4×4 spot array could be obtained, in which any stimulus mode could be realized by using the DMD. In addition, multi-mode stimulation of nerve cells could be implemented, and thus this study laid a good foundation for understanding the mechanism of information communicating between nerve cells in the network in the future.
