Objective:to Explore the different age groups of men and women (21-70 years old) spectrum imaging of the lumbar spine (spectrum curve and parameters), and to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of spectral CT in measurement of bone mineral density (BMD).Methods:①totally male 97 cases, female 109 cases did lumbar spine GSI examination with spectral CT,excluded the people who have the diseases that can affect bone mineral density. The males and females were divided into five groups according to age:21-30 years old,31-40 years old,41-50 years old,51-60 years old,61-70 years old. All data were transmitted to GSI browser for image analysis. Recorded L2 vertebral spectrum curve 11 CT values (40-140) KeV,70KeV-CT value, the calcium (water) concentration, water (calcium) concentration.②Selected 124 cases were measured by DEXA bone density method as the controls with same criteria and group division, measured and recorded the bone mineral density.③Analysis of variance was used to Analyze differences between males and females with different age groups; T-test was used to Analyze differences between males and females with same age groups. Pearson correlation analysis was done in the following two groups:The first group include age, CT-values, calcium (water) and water (calcium) concentration; The sceond group include calcium (water) concentration and BMD.Result: ①The males and females spectrum curves of different age groups were performance as downhill type. The 21-30 years old and 41-50 years age group spectrum curve was similar; Spectrum curves between these two groups with other age groups, and among other age groups were different. Males and females in 31-40 years old age group, the average spectra curve was highest, in the 61-70 year-old age group, the average spectrum curve was lowest. Between males and females of the same age group:21-30 years old,31-40 years old and 41-50 years old spectrum curve were Similar. Males and females 51-60 years old and 61-70 year old age group had different spectra curve.②CT-values,calcium(water) and water(calcium) concentration showed positive relationship to age in people≤40year, showed Negative relationship to age in people> 40year. males of different age groups between 21-30,31-40,41-50, the CT-values, calcium (water) and water (calcium) concentration showed no significant difference (P>0.05); females of different age groups between 21-30 years old and and the 41-50 age group, the CT-values, calcium (water) and water (calcium) concentration showed no significant difference (P>0.05); Male and female comparison between 21-30,31-40,41-50 in the same age group CT-values, calcium (water) and water(calcium) concentration showed no significant difference(P>0.05),and between the age group of 51-60 and 61-70 were significantly different (P<0.05).③Calcium (water) concentration and BMD showed positive relationship (r=0.968, P<0.05)Conclusion:The Spectral curve CT-values,calcium(water) and water(calcium) concentration of The lumbar spine both show same relationship to age, Spectral imaging between different age and different gender have certain characteristics; Calcium (water) concentration and BMD showed positive relationship, GSI can be use to Measure the bone mineral density.
