The Carotid Ultrasound Examinations And The Cerebral Vascular Dsa Of Old-Age Rhesus Monker On Anatomic Characterstics

Purpose:Study the characteristics of both cerebral vascular morphology and the carotid ultrasound examinations of the old-age rhesus monkeyMethod:Selective cerebral vascular angiographic examinations and carotid ultrasound examinations were applied to 8 old-age rhesus monkeys and then analyzing the cerebral vascular morphology of rhesus monkeys base on the angiograms.Result:There are two major branches comes out of the aortic arch of rhesus monkey, the first branch divides into the brachiocephalic artery and the left common carotid artery, and the second branch is the left subclavian artery.2 of 8 of the rhesus monkeys common carotid artery divide into three branches, that is to said the external carotid artery divide into two branches in the same plane. And the others divide into internal carotid artery and external carotid artery. The left and right anterior cerebral artery merge to form the common anterior cerebral artery, and there are no anterior communicating artery between the left and right anterior cerebral artery. All of the rhesus monkeys left and the right posterior communicating artery are existed. The ultrasound examination shows that there are no plaques in all the rhesus monkeys’carotid arteries, the lumens are unobstructed and the artery intima-media is smooth. The Color Doppler shows that the blood flow of all the arteries is laminar flow and fulfilled the lumen.Conclusion:The selective cerebral vascular angiographic examinations shows that the structure of rhesus monkey’s willis circle is similar to human being’, but the anterior communicating artery is absent, and the structure of arteries that above the aortic arch and carotid artery is different, the ultrasonic characteristics of carotids of old-age rhesus monkey is similar to human being, but less old-age rhesus monkey carotid artery occurred sclerosis. It is feasibility to build cerebral disease model in the rhesus monkey.
