Objective: To compare the effectiveness and safety of laparoscopic Partial(LPA) and Total(LA) adrenalectomy for aldosterone producing adenoma. Methods: A research for articles from Jan. 1988 to May 2014 related to the comparative effectiveness and safety of laparoscopic Partial and Total adrenalectomy for aldosterone- producing adenomas was ran on Pubmed, Dspace,Social Science Research Network,CNKI and Wanfang. The quality of studies was evaluated according to the Cochrane systematic review guideline and the software Stata 11 was used for meta-analysis.Results: A total of 7 articles involving 914 cases was included, 511 cases receiving the treatment of laparoscopic partial adrenalectomy for aldosterone-producing adenomas and 403 cases receiving laparoscopic total adrenalectomy.Meta-analysis of these studies showed that there was no significant difference in average operative time [ WMD=2.436,95%CI(-4.834,9.706),P>0.05], there was no significant difference in bleeding volume[WMD=3.225,95%CI(-5.654,12.103),P>0.05], there was no significant difference in drainage duration[Z=0.40,95%CI(-0.299,0.198),P>0.05] and there was no significant difference in postoperative hospital stay[Z=0.33,95%CI(-0.325,0.230),P>0.05].Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference in average operative time, bleeding volume, drainage duration and postoperative hospital stay between laparoscopic partial adrenalectomy ang laparoscopic total adrenalectomy group. However, A prospective randomized study with a larger sample size and high quality is needed to confirm this result.
