Objective:To study on the effect of Nrf2 elimination on secondary complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage in miceMethods:Wild-type (WT) and Nrf2 knockout (KO) ICR mice were subjected experimental SAH by injection fresh blood withdrew from femoral artery into pre-chiasmatic cistern. Brain edema, BBB disruption, Oxidative stress, Inflammation cytokines, neural apoptosis, activity level and artery constriction were measured at 24 h after SAH.Results:At 24 h after SAH, Brain edema, BBB disruption, Oxidative stress, Inflammation cytokines, neural apoptosis, activity level and artery constriction were all increased compared with their respective sham-operated mice. However, the pathological changes, except artery constriction, were more severe in SAH (KO) group compared with SAH (WT) group.Conclusion:Nrf2 plays a crucial role in protect from SAH induced complications, potentially via alleviating oxidative stress and inflammation.
