Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the influence ofVariolink N resin cement on the final color of CAD/CAM all-ceramicveneers made by IPS e.max CAD.Materials and methods:71discolored teeth had been restored withCAD/CAM all-ceramic veneers using IPS e.max CAD A2LT. ThenCrystaleye spectrophotometer was used to obtain the color coordinates of theCIE L*a*b*system. The experiment was divided into two groups. One wasthe control group (restorations on the teeth without resin cement) and anotherwas the resin cement group (restorations adhered to the teeth with resincement). The cervical, body and incisal regions were measured for eachveneer. The color differences(ΔE) were calculated from the values of L*,a*and b*. The results were statistically analyzed by SPSS19.Results:1.The color difference(△E) between experimental and controlgroup was influenced by the shades of the resin cement(P<0.05).2. All of the color differences (ΔE) were less than3.7NBS.3. All of theΔL valuesdecreased, while theΔa, Δb, ΔC, ΔH universally increased. Conclusions: The LT ingots of IPS e.max CAD were available dentalmaterials to reappear the normal color of discolored teeth because of its colormasking ability. If the thickness of the restorations was less than1.0mm, thecolor was influenced by the shades of the resin cement. As a result, it is vitalto select the shades of resin cement for thin restorations. In spite of theshades of resin cements, dark abutment color would achieve the colordifferences that were accepted clinically though. The shades of resin cementcould fine-adjust the final color of the all-ceramic restorations.
