As a dynamic system, Human abdominal wall can resist the continuousintraperitoneal pressure and mutation pressure. After implantation, patch will bear acertain pressure continuously and bend repeatedly in the normal activities. Therefore,as the abdominal wall reinforced material, the patch should have enough strength andmechanical stability under dynamic pressure. Polypropylene patch is widely used inherniorrhaphy. it has rich textile structures, specifications and shapes. differentmechanical properties of PP patch closely related to various postoperativecomplications. For this reason, the intrinsic relationship between structure andproperties of fabric based patch is worth further research and analysis. However,domestic scholarship is scanty.This study is carry out the testing, appraising and evaluating on material, structureand performance of9foreign patches,1domestic patch for clinical use and1self-designed domestic patch. This paper includes three parts of research contents: thefirst one tested linear density and tensile of PP monofilaments. The influence ofmonofilament performance on the structure and properties of patch is analyzed. Thesecond one was analyze11types of patches. Testing items include weavingcharacteristics, geometry characteristics and surface morphology three main testcontents. The test results were discussed with porosity of patch which is closelyrelated with the patch healing. The third one selected3kinds of patches which aresimilar structure, tested their mechanical properties and physical properties, andanalyzed the influence of structure on its mechanical properties, especially the fatigueproperties.The result showed that the strength of foreign PP monofilament was slightlyhigher than which of domestic PP, however, the diameter of domestic PPmonofilament was smaller than foreign one, which was more suitable for weave lightpatch. Patches with different structure and monofilament diameter has differentdensity, compared with the difference between textile structures, the diameter of monofilament exerted greater influence on geometric characteristics of patch. Theinfluence factors of strength include crystallinity, geometric structure, microstructureand shear direction. These factors influenced each other. PP patch suffered significantfatigue damage after constant elongation, therefore, the cutting and placementdirection of patches should transformed correspondingly according to the differentrequirements of strength and elongation. PP patch performance different stiffness ondifferent sides, it should pay attention to the directional for clinical use.For the case of adhesion between PP patch and visceral, this paper selectedself-designed patch for further improvements, on the base of the analysis of11kindsof patches. An anti-adhesion composite patch was prepared using collagen solution asraw material by electrostatic spinning technology. The composite technology wasprimarily studied.In a word, the study accomplished all properties’ test and the overall evaluation,analyzed the influence of structure on properties of PP patches, designed and preparedan anti-adhesion composite patch, explored preliminarily into the compositetechnology. The final results had certain reference value for the domestic products’further optimization on manufacturing and properties design.
