Objective To investigate the value of serum chromograninA(CgA) in clinicaldiagnosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (p-NET).Methods We enrolled32p-NET patients from January2004to October2013, whichincluded6patients with lesions and26patients without lesions after surgery,2of the6patients with lesions were proved to have liver metastases. At the same time, wetook32healthy subjects as control group. The serum CgA levels of all subjects weremeasured with Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Nonparametric test wereperformed for analysis. And also we constructed receiver operating characteristiccurve(ROC curve), in order to obtain the area under ROC curve(AUROC) and thecut-off value of serum CgA.Results The median of serum CgA level of p-NET patients with lesions, patientswithout lesions after surgery and healthy control group were181.3μg/L(rangefrom56.2to4820.8μg/L),45.4μg/L(range from20.1to148.5μg/L) and42.2μg/L (range from18.3to124.8μg/L), respectively. The serum CgA level ofp-NET patients with lesions was significantly higher than that of patients withoutlesions after surgery (Z=3.163, P<0.002) and healthy control group (Z=3.247,P<0.001). We took the value of92.6μg/L as the diagnostic cut-off value forhealthy controls, patients without lesions and patients with lesions, the sensitivityand specificity were83.3%and88.9%, respectively. There was no significantdifference between the serum CgA level of p-NET patients without lesions and thatof healthy control group(Z=0.044,P>0.05). The serum CgA levels of the twopatients with liver metastases were extremely high, which was3588.6μg/L and4820.8μg/L, respectively. Conclusion The serum level of CgA has a high diagnostic value in p-NET patients, and can be used as a reliable biomarker in clinical diagnosis of p-NET....
