Backgroud Dyslipidemia has become higher prevalent in China. The regulationof glucolipid metabolism was closely associated with cytokines which had complexphysiological functions and actived in metabolism of body. Objective The present study was designed to determine the serum levels of LEP、ADP、hs-CRP、ANG3and RBP4of rural residents in Ningxia. We analysed theassociations between serum cytokines and dyslipidemia preliminary to understandthe role of cytokines in the development of dyslipidemia and there relativepositions in the risk assessment of dyslipidemia. Another view was to providean evidence for intervention and treatment of dyslipidemia. Methods The study population was consisted of220dyslipidemia cases and220healthy controls according to the2004CDs criteria. The survey includedquestionnaire, physical measurement, examination of biochemical indicators andmeasurement of serum levels of LEP, ADP,hs-CRP, ANG3and RBP4by ELISAmethod.Logistic regression was used to analysis the relationship betweencytokines and dyslipidemia. Results The LEP, hs-CRP and RBP4of case group was higher than the control group,ADP in control group was significantly higher than case group. LEP, hs-CRP andRBP4levels were higher in case group than control group, and ADP was lower incase group than control group by gender stratification.Serum LEP, hs-CRP, ANG3and RBP4were found to be higher in case group than control group whereas ADPwas lower in case group than control group of ethnic Han. LEP and hs-CRP were higher in case group while ADP was lower in case group than in control groupof ethnic Hui by ethnic stratification analysis.Serum lipids concentrations were significantly different among the threelevels of serum cytokines quartiles. The results showed that the amount ofdyslipidemia patients decreased by the ADP level increasing, however, the amountof dyslipidemia patients increased with hs-CRP levels. It was revealed that HDL-Cconcentration increased with serum ADP level. Moreover, TG concentrationdecreased by the level of ADP and RBP4increasing (P <0.001) while increasedwith hs-CRP level (P<0.001). Serum cytokines levels changed with the change ofblood lipid concentration by gender stratification. The spearman correlation analyse was used to explore the relationshipsbetween the cytokines and body parameters, and the relationships among cytokines.Leptin was positively correlated with hs-CRP, ANG3, ADP, FBG, TC, TG, waistcircumference and WHR, and inversely related with HDL-C. Adiponectin waspositively correlated with HDL-C and ANG3while negatively correlated withheight, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, WHR, BMI, upper armcircumference, FBG, TG, DBP, hs-CRP and RBP4. C-reactive protein and height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, WHR, upper arm circumference,SBP, DBP, FBG, TC, TG, ANG3and were positively correlated, while it wasnegatively correlated with ADP and HDL-C. Angiotensin3was positivelycorrelated with the waist circumference. Retinol binding protein4and TG arepositively correlated, whereas hip circumference, body weight, waistcircumference, BMI, WHR, upper arm circumference and HDL-C were negativelycorrelated with RBP4.Partial correlation analysis method was used to explorethe relationship between cytokines and blood lipids. Leptin was positivelycorrelated with ANG3and TC while HDL-C was significantly negative correlated. Adiponectin and HDL-C was positively related, and adiponectin significantlynegatively correlated with TG. Hypersensitive C-reactive protein was negativelycorrelated with HDL–C. Retinol binding protein4was negatively correlatedwith TG.ADP is the protective factor of dyslipidemia while hs-CRP, RBP4, WHR and hipcircumference are risk factors. When ADP level was higher than35.14, the riskof dyslipidemia was decreased, the odds ratios and95%confidence intervals were0.019(0.008-0.047). When the level of hs-CRP was higher than12.49, the riskof dyslipidemia was increased that the odds ratios and95%confidence intervalswere8.543(4.006-18.216). The risk of dyslipidemia was higher in the range of6.31to6.31for RBP4level, the odds ratios and95%confidence intervals were2.595(1.404-3.596). The risk of dyslipidemia was increased with abnormal WHRand increasing hip circumference, the odds ratios and95%confidence intervalswere2.173(1.313-3.596)and1.050(1.001-1.101) respectively. Conclusion These findings suggest that LEP, hs-CRP and RBP4concentration washigher in dyslipidemia patients than healthy contols and ADP was lower in healthycontrol than case group. ADP、hs-CRP、RBP4、WHR and hip circumference areassociated with dyslipidemia in Ningxia rural residents, we should put them intoconsideration for the intervention and treatment of dyslipidemia.
